LP reporting and investor portal software compared: 10 platforms and who each one fits
The short answer
You are buying one of two things, and the vendors do not make the difference obvious. The first is a portal: a branded website where LPs log in to find statements, notices, tax documents and reports. The second is the engine behind it: capital accounts, the waterfall, performance figures, the notices themselves. Some products are only the portal and expect your administrator to feed it. Others are the engine with a portal on top. Before you read a feature list, decide which one you are short of.
If you already have an administrator, you probably have a portal too, and the question is whether their portal is good enough under their brand. If you administer in-house, or you are about to raise again and want fundraising, onboarding and reporting to share one record, you need the engine.

What a quarterly package has to contain
The portal is judged on what it delivers, so start from the deliverable. A quarterly package for a venture or PE fund is a capital account statement per LP, the fund's unaudited financial statements, a performance summary with DPI, TVPI and net IRR, a schedule of investments, any capital call or distribution notices issued in the quarter, and a narrative. Institutional LPs will also ask for the ILPA Reporting Template, a standard layout for fees, expenses and carried interest. Version 2.0 was released in January 2025 and applies to funds still in their investment period from the first quarter of 2026.
Every platform in the table can hold those documents. The difference is whether it can produce them. Vessel, Juniper Square, Carta, Allvue, eFront, Dynamo, Flow and Fundwave keep capital accounts and can generate statements. Altvia and Intralinks FundCentre are portals and CRMs that distribute what your administrator produces, and Intralinks says its portal has ILPA templates built in.
Why Vessel is our pick for a first, second or third fund
A manager at that stage is usually raising the next fund while reporting on the current one, and the two jobs touch the same people. Vessel is the only platform in this table where the LP enters as a fundraising prospect, signs in the data room, completes KYC, and then reads capital account statements and receives notices in the same portal, with a fund administration team running period close as part of the service. The practical effect is that the subscription document, the capital account and the quarterly statement are one record, which is where stitched-together stacks go wrong.
What it is not: a published price, so you cannot compare it against Fundwave before a call. And it launched fund administration on October 8, 2026, so ask for references on that service specifically. If you want a flat figure you can read today, Fundwave's portal plus admin bundle from $1,000 a month per fund is the only option here that gives you one.
Who should choose which
- A first fund with 20 to 40 LPs and an outside administrator. Use the administrator's portal for a year. Buy nothing. Revisit when you raise Fund II.
- An emerging manager who wants one system from first LP meeting to quarterly statement. Vessel.
- A manager who wants a published per-fund price. Fundwave for software you operate; AngelList if you want administration included on its template.
- A multi-fund GP with institutional LPs across more than one asset class. Juniper Square or Allvue, and get both quotes with the same scope.
- A fund whose portfolio companies already run on Carta. Carta, for the integration.
- An institutional GP or LP that needs portfolio monitoring and valuations more than notices. eFront, or Chronograph alongside whatever runs the books.
The ten platforms, one by one
Who it is for. Fund I to multi-fund GPs who want LP discovery, the data room, subscription documents, onboarding, capital calls, distributions and LP reporting as one record. The vendor states no minimum fund size.
Delivery. Software plus an administration service. Its fund admin page says the team runs migration, period close, side letter requests and custom reporting as part of the service.
Price. Quote-based. No pricing page exists on the site as of October 9, 2026.
Limits. Fund administration is new, announced October 8, 2026. No portfolio company cap tables.
Who it is for. GPs across private equity, real estate, venture, funds of funds and private credit who want investor relations, the portal and administration from one vendor. The homepage claims more than 2,300 GPs and 750,000 LPs.
Delivery. Software plus administration. The investor portal is the product most people know; administration and AML/KYC are sold alongside it.
Price. Quote-based. The pricing page has no figures.
Limits. For a single small fund the implementation can be more than the job needs. Ask whether the portal is priced separately from administration.
Who it is for. Venture, PE and private credit funds, especially those whose portfolio companies already issue equity on Carta.
Delivery. Software plus a managed administration service. Carta states $220B+ in fund assets under administration.
Price. Quote-based. Global KYC, fund forecasting, SPV management and valuations are listed as sold separately.
Limits. Strongest when the rest of your stack is already Carta. Add-ons are priced separately and none of the figures are public.
Who it is for. Multi-fund PE, VC and credit managers that run fund accounting in-house, and the administrators that serve them. Allvue's May 2024 release put its investor portal at more than 90,000 LP users.
Delivery. Software. AltaReturn, the product many people still search for, merged into Allvue and is no longer sold under that name.
Price. Quote-based, through an enterprise sales process.
Limits. A small venture fund buys depth it will not use for years.
Who it is for. Institutional GPs, LPs, funds of funds and asset servicers.
Delivery. Software. Investor portals are one of several solutions on a platform that also covers due diligence and portfolio monitoring.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. The investor portal page returned a 404 on the check date, so portal detail is thin. Built for scale and priced that way.
Who it is for. Alternative investment firms that want CRM, fundraising, portfolio data and investor reporting in one front-to-back platform.
Delivery. Software. Investor Portal v3.0, released June 2024, added document management and a tax center.
Price. Quote-based. The site blocks automated reads, so this row comes from the vendor's press release rather than its product pages.
Limits. Scope is wide; a small fund will pay for modules it does not need.
Who it is for. GPs who want a CRM, data room and LP portal in one engagement platform. Altvia claims 120,000 portal users.
Delivery. Software. It distributes what your administrator produces; it does not keep the books.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Not fund accounting. Pair it with an administrator or an accounting system.
Who it is for. Managers already running data rooms on Intralinks who want fundraising, DDQs, onboarding and reporting in the same place.
Delivery. Software with professional services. The portal has built-in ILPA templates.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Its scale claims are Intralinks-wide, not FundCentre-specific. Institutional in price and process.
Who it is for. Emerging managers who want fundraising, onboarding, a data room and a portal in one product, with Apex administration available behind it.
Delivery. Software. Apex Group acquired Flow in April 2025 and said at the time that Flow served over 1,000 funds across 300+ GPs.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. The product may be folded into Apex over time. Ask what the roadmap looks like before signing a multi-year term.
Who it is for. Single funds up to about $250M that want a published per-fund price for the portal, the accounting engine, or both.
Delivery. Software, with an optional administration service that is not priced publicly.
Price. Published. Portal from $400 a month (funds up to $50M, up to 100 investors) and $650 (up to $250M, 250 investors). Portal plus fund admin from $1,000 a month, with a one-time onboarding fee from $2,000. Figures are "starts at" and the page shows an annual discount.
Limits. Priced per fund, so a three-vehicle structure is three subscriptions.
What we did
We read each vendor's own pages on October 9, 2026 and recorded only what was written there. Two sites refused automated reads, Dynamo and Allvue's older domain, so those rows lean on vendor press releases, which we link. Where a vendor publishes no price the cell says so. We did not call vendors or use third-party estimates.

Terms used in this article
- LP portal (investor portal) An LP portal, or investor portal, is the secure website where a fund's limited partners log in to view their capital account statements, capital call and distribution notices, quarterly reports, tax documents and fund legal documents, replacing email and PDF distribution.
- Capital account A capital account is the running balance of a single partner's economic interest in a fund: contributions in, allocations of income, gains and losses, less distributions out.
- Capital call A capital call, also called a drawdown, is a notice from the general partner requiring each limited partner to wire a portion of their committed capital to the fund by a due date, usually ten business days, to fund investments, fees or expenses.
- Distribution waterfall A distribution waterfall is the sequence in which a fund's proceeds are allocated between limited partners and the general partner, typically return of contributed capital first, then a preferred return to LPs, then a catch-up to the GP, then the remaining profit split at the carried interest rate.
- DPI (distributions to paid-in capital) DPI, distributions to paid-in capital, is the total cash and stock distributed to limited partners divided by the total capital they have contributed.
- TVPI (total value to paid-in capital) TVPI, total value to paid-in capital, is the sum of distributions to limited partners and the current net asset value of the fund, divided by the capital LPs have contributed.
