About

Most coverage follows the deals. We cover the quarter end.

The GP Ledger is about what happens after the wire lands: the capital accounts, the calls and distributions, the K-1s, the LP reports, the onboarding packs and the software and people that produce them.

Venture and private equity media is about investing. Almost none of it is about operating. Yet every fund has someone, often one person, who owns the books, the LP portal, the subscription documents and the audit, and who buys the software that does it. That person has nowhere to read. We publish for them.

What we cover

  • Fund administration. Software you operate, administrators who operate it for you, and when a fund crosses from one to the other.
  • LP reporting. Capital account statements, quarterly packs, portals, and what LPs actually open.
  • Fundraising operations. Data rooms, subscription workflows, LP pipelines, closes.
  • Onboarding and compliance. KYC and AML, accreditation, Form D, Form ADV, side letters.
  • The stack. What funds actually run, by category, with published prices and the date we checked them.

How we write

Specific. Every number links to the page or filing it came from and carries the date we read it. Opinionated. When we have a pick we say so, and we say what it is not good for. Short where short will do. A briefing is a paragraph; a comparison is as long as the table needs.

Independence

The GP Ledger is an independent publication. Every table row comes from the vendor's own pages, checked on the date shown, and rankings are never for sale. Vendors may correct facts about their own products; they may not influence methodology, conclusions or order. The production process is on how this gets made and the rules on the editorial standards page.
