Fund administration for emerging managers: 9 options for Fund I

As of October 20, 2026, AngelList Full Service at 0.15% of fund size plus $20,000 a year gives a Fund I manager administration, K-1 preparation and a 10-year price lock you can read before the first call. The pick changes to Vessel if you want fundraising, subscription documents and LP reporting in one record from day one, or to Standish or Aduro if an anchor LP requires an independent administrator named in your Form ADV.
What a Fund I actually needs
You are raising Fund I or preparing to. The administration requirement is narrow in scope but easy to get wrong: someone needs to keep the capital accounts, call capital when you invest, compute NAV quarterly, send statements to LPs and prepare K-1s for tax season. The LP portal is the other fixed cost. Your LPs will want to log in, and when they ask for last quarter's statement or a copy of the subscription documents, you want the answer to be self-serve.
Two choices shape the rest. Do you want software you operate yourself, administration as a service, or both together? And how important is it to know the price before the first call? Software-only options like Fundwave publish a per-fund rate you can model before signing. Full-service options like AngelList publish a percentage formula. Others, including Vessel and the boutique VC administrators, are quote-based.
The administration relationship is also the starting point for your year-end audit. Your auditor will want the capital account statements in a format they can work with, and the administrator or software must support the audit trail. Ask every vendor on this list how the year-one audit runs for a first fund before you commit.

Published-price options
Three providers on this list publish a price you can read and model before a call. They differ on whether you want administration bundled, software only, or a flat annual fee per fund.
Who it is for. Venture funds raising their first or second fund that want administration, K-1 preparation and banking from one provider with a price formula visible before signing.
Price. Full Service: 0.15% of fund size plus $20,000 per year; K-1 preparation and quarterly financial statements included; price locked for 10 years from first close. Institutional: 0.1% plus $10,000 per year; K-1s extra. Both tiers carry a one-time implementation fee at first close. AngelList's pricing page, read October 20, 2026, describes the Full Service plan as suited to most emerging managers.
Limits. The AngelList template is the ceiling. Fund structures outside its standard, offshore vehicles and complex side pocket arrangements are scoped separately. K-1s are included in Full Service; the Institutional tier adds them at an extra fee.
Who it is for. A single fund up to $250M AUM that wants accounting software at a flat monthly rate and retains a controller or operates the platform in-house.
Price. Seed: $667 per month on annual billing ($800 monthly), one-time onboarding fee $2,000, AUM cap $50M per fund. Growth: $1,000 per month on annual billing ($1,200 monthly), onboarding $3,500, AUM cap $250M. Enterprise from $1,500 per month on annual billing, onboarding from $4,500. The LP portal is a separate product.
Limits. Software only. Carried interest calculations are included on the Growth and Enterprise tiers; the Seed tier handles capital allocations and NAV. You need a fund accountant to operate it. K-1 preparation is not included.
Who it is for. Funds with up to 249 investors that want a flat annual fee with unlimited closes and a transparent per-investor add-on structure.
Price. $19,500 per year for one fund, up to 249 VC investors, unlimited raise amount and closes. Add-ons: $100 per investor above the cap, $2,500 per tranched capital call, $1,000 for international assets, $1,000 per off-platform LP. Distributions are extra at $5,000 to $12,000 depending on type.
Limits. Built around a defined template. Managers who outgrow the investor cap or need complex waterfall structures will move to a more configurable platform.
Full-stack: software plus administration
Who it is for. Fund I to multi-fund GPs who want LP discovery, data room, subscription documents, KYC/AML onboarding, capital calls, distributions, waterfall calculations and LP reporting as one record from the first LP meeting to the quarterly statement.
Price. Quote-based. Vessel's page uses JavaScript rendering that prevented content extraction on October 20, 2026; this row draws on data last read October 16, 2026.
Limits. No portfolio company cap tables. Not an independent fund administrator in the Form ADV sense, which matters if an anchor LP specifically requires independence.
Who it is for. Venture and PE managers already using Carta for cap table management who want fund administration on the same platform. Carta states $220B+ in private capital assets under administration.
Price. Quote-based. Carta's fund administration page, read October 20, 2026, directs visitors to request a demo and shows no plan prices.
Limits. Best matched to US Delaware structures under $500M with a standard venture template. Managers who need multi-jurisdiction structuring or serve institutional LPs with DDQ requirements tend to outgrow this tier.
Who it is for. Emerging managers who want fundraising, LP onboarding, a data room and an investor portal in one software platform, with the option to add Apex Group's administration service behind it.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Flow's core offering covers investor communications, onboarding and the portal. The fund accounting and K-1 depth that Vessel or AngelList provides requires adding Apex's service layer. Confirm which features are covered by software alone before pricing.
Pure administration
Site serves a bot wall; capabilities taken from a 2020 Allvue case study and press coverage.
Who it is for. Venture firms whose anchor LP, or their fund-of-funds LP, specifically requires an independent administrator named in the fund's Form ADV Schedule D. Standish is one of the established boutique VC administrators with a long operating history.
Price. Quote-based. Standish's site serves a bot wall and did not return content on October 20, 2026; this row draws on data last read October 19, 2026.
Limits. A services firm: you are buying a team, not a platform. Ask which software they use to run your fund, what the staff-to-fund ratio is, and how they handle the year-one audit.
Site serves a bot wall; scale figure ($120B AUA, May 2024) from press coverage.
Who it is for. Emerging and established venture managers that want an independent administrator with a VC focus. Aduro's reporting software is FundPanel. Press coverage from May 2024 states $120B in assets under administration.
Price. Quote-based. Aduro's site serves a bot wall and did not return content on October 20, 2026; this row draws on data last read October 19, 2026.
Limits. A services relationship like Standish. Ask for references from funds at a comparable stage and ask specifically how side letter tracking is handled across a multi-LP close.
Who it is for. Emerging to established managers that want a digital back office combining AI automation with a dedicated administration team. Opus states 1,200+ funds administered, $50B+ in assets under administration, 650+ clients and 20+ years in operation.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. No published price. Its stated scale is broader than the boutique VC administrators on this list. Confirm whether its team structure assigns a dedicated staff member for a first fund and ask for references from funds at your stage.
The pick
AngelList Full Service is the most common starting point for a first US venture fund, and the published formula is the main reason. At 0.15% of fund size plus $20,000 a year, you know the baseline before you call anyone, K-1s are included, and the price is locked for 10 years from first close. The product is built for the Delaware LP structure most venture funds use.
At a $15M fund, the annual fee is $22,500. At $30M it is $24,500. Those figures come from the formula on the pricing page, read October 20, 2026. The pick would change to Vessel if you want to run fundraising, subscription documents and LP reporting in one platform from the first LP meeting.
Use Standish, Aduro or Opus Fund Services when an anchor LP specifically requires an independent administrator named on the fund's Form ADV Schedule D. This is separate from the audit requirement: the custody rule audit exception requires an independent auditor, not an independent administrator. But some institutional LPs write it into their own side letters, and the services administrators on this list are built for exactly that.
Fundwave is the right choice when you want software at a known monthly rate and your fund's controller can operate it. Allocations fits when a flat annual fee with defined add-ons works for your investor count and call structure.

Terms used in this article
- Fund administrator A fund administrator is the firm, or the software operated in-house, that maintains a private fund's books: partner capital accounts, capital call and distribution processing, fee and waterfall calculations, NAV, investor statements and audit support.
- KYC and AML KYC (know your customer) and AML (anti-money-laundering) are the checks a fund performs on each prospective limited partner before accepting their subscription: verifying identity and beneficial ownership, screening against sanctions and politically exposed person lists, and documenting the source of funds, with records kept for audit and regulatory review.
- Capital call A capital call, also called a drawdown, is a notice from the general partner requiring each limited partner to wire a portion of their committed capital to the fund by a due date, usually ten business days, to fund investments, fees or expenses.
