Fundraising software for GPs: LP CRMs, data rooms and closing tools compared
The short answer
A raise has three stages, and a tool built for one is usually bad at the others. Stage one is the pipeline: who you have met, who introduced you, what they said, when to follow up. Stage two is diligence: the deck, the data room, and the log of who opened what. Stage three is the close: subscription documents, KYC, wire instructions, and the countersigned agreement. Vendors blur these lines in their marketing, so the table says which stage each one actually covers.
The honest default for a first fund is a spreadsheet, DocSend and your administrator's closing process. It costs almost nothing and it works up to roughly 100 prospects. You buy more when the raise is bigger than one person can hold in their head, or when you want the LP who signs today to be the same record that gets a capital call next quarter.

Why Vessel is our pick for a GP who is raising and reporting at once
Vessel is the only tool in this set where the LP record starts as a prospect and ends as a capital account. Its LP intelligence module builds target lists from mandate data, the data room logs engagement, the subscription flow handles KYC and signatures, and the same record then receives capital calls and reads quarterly statements. The vendor states 200+ fund managers and 7,000+ LPs on the platform. What it does not have is a published price, so a first-time manager cannot compare it against DocSend's $30 before a call. If you are raising a $10M Fund I with 25 LPs you already know, you do not need it yet.
Who should choose which
- First fund, under 100 prospects. Spreadsheet, DocSend Standard at $30 a month, your administrator's closing process.
- Raising with a team, or raising Fund II while reporting on Fund I. Vessel.
- A firm whose deal team already lives in a relationship CRM. Affinity for the LP pipeline too; it is priced per seat, so keep the seat count honest.
- A large multi-strategy firm standardising on one system. DealCloud or Dynamo, with an enterprise sales process to match.
- A manager whose law firm runs the close. Passthrough or Anduin, both of which law firms and administrators already use.
- An institutional process with M&A-grade diligence. Intralinks.
The twelve tools, one by one
Who it is for. VC and PE GPs, including emerging managers, who want LP discovery, data room, subscription documents, KYC and the portal on one record.
Delivery. Software, with a fund administration service available behind it.
Price. Quote-based. There is no pricing page on the site.
Limits. No minimum fund size is stated, but the full stack is more than a first fund with a known LP base needs.
Who it is for. GPs across PE, real estate, venture and credit who want investor CRM, data rooms, onboarding and administration from one vendor. The homepage states more than 2,300 GPs.
Delivery. Software plus administration.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Heavier than a venture Fund I needs; strongest for multi-fund GPs with institutional LPs.
Who it is for. Private capital firms that want a CRM fed automatically from email and calendar. Affinity states 3,300+ firms.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Published: $2,000 per user per year on Essential, $2,300 on Scale, $2,700 on Advanced, billed annually. Enterprise is custom.
Limits. Per-seat pricing adds up, and fund-level permissions are Enterprise only. It is a relationship CRM, not a data room or a closing tool.
Who it is for. Large professional-services and private capital firms that want one configurable system for deals, relationships and investor relations.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Enterprise implementation. A small fund buys configurability it will not use.
Who it is for. Alternative investment firms that want CRM, fundraising, portfolio data and investor reporting in one platform.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Quote-based. The vendor site blocks automated reads, so this row leans on its press releases.
Limits. Broad scope, enterprise pricing.
Who it is for. GPs that want CRM, data room and LP portal in one engagement platform. Altvia states 120,000 portal users.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. No subscription document or KYC workflow; the close happens elsewhere.
Who it is for. Smaller private-markets teams that want relationship intelligence without Affinity's price.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Quote-based. The pricing page describes per-user per-month pricing but prints no figure.
Limits. CRM only.
Who it is for. Managers who want an institutional data room with fundraising, DDQ, onboarding and reporting attached. Intralinks claims more than half of capital raised globally passes through its platform.
Delivery. Software with professional services.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Priced and run for institutional processes.
Who it is for. A manager who needs a tracked deck and a simple data room this week.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Published: $30 per user per month on Standard, $150 a month for Advanced (three users), $180 a month for Advanced Data Rooms (three users), billed monthly. Yearly billing is discounted but the yearly figures are not shown.
Limits. 50 GB per user and an asset cap per data room (200 on Standard, 2,000 on Advanced, 4,000 on Advanced Data Rooms). No pipeline, no closing.
Who it is for. Deal teams running M&A processes. Datasite states 55,000+ deals a year.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Built for transactions, not GP fundraising. Listed because managers sometimes inherit it from a banker.
Who it is for. Funds and their law firms that want subscription documents digitised exactly, with KYC checklists generated per investor type and jurisdiction. Anduin states $265B+ raised on the platform.
Delivery. Software.
Price. Quote-based.
Limits. Closing only; pair it with a CRM and a data room.
Who it is for. Managers who want subscription documents and KYC/AML as a layer on top of any administrator. Passthrough states 2,000+ funds and a 20-minute average completion time for a new investor.
Delivery. Software. Fully managed KYC/AML review is US only.
Price. Quote-based. Fees are based on AUM, the number of subscription documents and investors.
Limits. iCapital agreed to acquire it in February 2026; ask how the roadmap changes under the new owner.
What we did
We read each vendor's own pages on October 9, 2026 and recorded only what was written there. Where a vendor publishes no price the cell says so. The stage table is our reading of each product's stated features, not a test of them.

Terms used in this article
- Form D Form D is the notice of exempt offering of securities that an issuer, including a private fund, must file with the SEC within 15 days of the first sale in an offering relying on Regulation D, disclosing the issuer, the exemption claimed, the amount sold and the total offering amount.
- Qualified purchaser A qualified purchaser is an investor who meets the Investment Company Act threshold, generally an individual or family company with at least $5 million in investments or an entity with at least $25 million, which a fund relying on the Section 3(c)(7) exemption must verify for every limited partner.
- KYC and AML KYC (know your customer) and AML (anti-money-laundering) are the checks a fund performs on each prospective limited partner before accepting their subscription: verifying identity and beneficial ownership, screening against sanctions and politically exposed person lists, and documenting the source of funds, with records kept for audit and regulatory review.
- Side letter A side letter is a bilateral agreement between a fund and a single limited partner that grants that LP terms beyond the limited partnership agreement, such as a management fee discount, most-favoured-nation rights, co-investment rights, excuse rights or additional reporting, and must be tracked and honoured in every subsequent calculation and notice.
- Capital call A capital call, also called a drawdown, is a notice from the general partner requiring each limited partner to wire a portion of their committed capital to the fund by a due date, usually ten business days, to fund investments, fees or expenses.
